National Poetry Month Party Reading
Sunday, April 26 | 5 p.m. | Swing Barrel Brewing
Poet Paula Cisewski (Shih-Zev-ski) will read from her work on Sunday, April 26, at 5 p.m. at Swing Barrel Brewing in Moorhead. This free 21 and older event is possible thanks to Minnesota State Moorhead’s Sand & McGrath Visiting Writers Series, honoring the legacies of MSUM supporter Thomas R. Sand and the late Moorhead English teacher and major American poet Thomas McGrath.
Cisewski is also an educator, artist, and one half of Beauty School Editions, an experimental poetry press. She is the author of six books and several chapbooks, including Ghost Fargo (selected for the Nightboat Poetry Prize by Franz Wright), Quitter, (winner of the Diode Poetry Prize), and The Becoming Game (a current finalist for the Minnesota Book Award). She lives in and loves Minneapolis. Books will be available for purchase.
Grzegorz Kwiatowski, author of Crops, describes Cisewski work as “controversial, paradoxical, provocative, confessional, intimate, friendly, honest, metric, exuberant, crazy, subdued poetry.”
