From Zakho to Moorhead: Honoring Fans and Strengthening Global Ties
The FIFA Fan Award is a prestigious recognition that celebrates exceptional moments and unwavering passion from fans during games. This year, Zakho Soccer was nominated and won the award after a worldwide voting contest. We are excited to honor Zakho and their fans during this moment and acknowledge the joy and passion behind their actions. The award-winning moment featured fans throwing thousands of children’s stuffed toys onto the field before the game with incredible energy. These toys were later donated to a local children’s hospital.
Minnesota State Moorhead and the University of Zakho share a strong partnership that includes student exchange programs, support with accreditation, and opportunities for faculty collaboration. We are grateful for this relationship, led by Campus Diversity Officer Jered Pigeon and supported in partnership with community leaders and city officials in Moorhead.
