Jazz man Willie Akins at MSUM Feb. 10-11

Willie Akins is coming to MSUM for convocations, concerts and master-classes February 10-11. Akins has been a mentor and mainstay of the St. Louis jazz scene since his return from New York in the early 1970s, coming off engagements with Roy Haynes, Jack McDuff and McCoy Tyner. Band members include drummer Montez Coleman (of the Roy Hargrove group since 2007), bassist Willem Von Hombracht (of St. Louis) and pianist Simon Rowe (of MSUM).
