Announcing winners for the 2025 Student Employees and Supervisor of the Year Awards
We are excited to announce this year’s winners of the Undergraduate Student Employee, Graduate Student Employee, and the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year awards!
Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year – Luzmary (Luz) Diaz Castillo
Receiving two nominations by her supervisors Kayla Stenstrom and Jamie Wepking, Luz was recognized for her roles as Student Content Specialist and Dragon Ambassador.
“Luz radiates warmth to those around her, with exuberant energy and a sincere desire to do her best. She takes her work seriously, asks good questions, is not afraid to try new things and is utterly reliable to the point where I can hand things off and assume she not only has them covered but that the work itself will be top quality.”
Graduate Student Employee of the Year – Mahlet (Mahi) Habtemeskel
Nominated by supervisor Stacy Voeller, Mahi was recognized for her role as a Graduate Assistant in the University Writing Center.
“Mahi has also held other leadership positions on our campus and is such a positive example of the difference MSUM can make in the lives of our students. You could find a long list of faculty, staff and fellow students who would easily support this nomination. I consider myself very lucky to have gotten to work with her”
Student Employee Supervisor of the Year – Madison Anderson
Nominated by Olivia Clusiau, a Education learning Community Mentor, Madison was recognized for her work leading the Learning Community Staff.
“Madison is the type of boss where you want to do well in your position not because you feel like you have to, but to make Madison proud. She has been a terrific AD of LCs ensuring the department is organized while always innovating new ideas… I’m so grateful to have had such a supportive boss my first year working in housing.”
