MSUM starts long-awaited renovations on historic Weld Hall

MOORHEAD — It’s been a long process, but on Monday, Oct. 7, contractors started major renovations on the oldest building on Minnesota State University Moorhead’s campus.

The university had plans to renovate Weld Hall over 10 years ago, but a lack of funding continued to put the project on hold.

In May 2023, MSUM received $23.1 million from the state as part of a capital investment package.

Weld was built in 1915 and its last major renovation was over 50 years ago.
