Fall 2024 Course Material Request

Greetings From the Bookstore:

With classes beginning in 6 weeks, we’d like to list as many course materials as possible for students to view on the campus and bookstore websites. This way students will see how much it will cost to register in a class.

Important date: The last day to add your class and digital materials into the inclusive access program is: Monday,  7/29/2024.

As a reminder, the inclusive access program is where the required course materials are provisioned to students before classes and the access subscription cost is charged to the student’s campus financial account. Students can always opt-out of the program if they would prefer physical copies to the digital material or if they want to purchase their materials from outside the bookstore.

There is a new system available to submit your course material selections called Follett Discover Adopt. This system is designed for instructors to search for traditional course materials (textbooks, novels, courseware, etc.), non-traditional course materials (YouTube videos, articles, etc), Open Educational Resources (OER), and massive open online course (MOOC) content which can be adopted into your assigned courses.
To log into your Follett Discover Adopt account, please follow the steps below:
    • Sign into your myMSUM portal account from the campus homepage website: www.mnstate.edu
    • Scroll to the ‘Services & Support’ or ‘Teaching Resources’ links
    • Select the “Course Materials and Textbooks” link to be taken to the Follett Discover Adopt login webpage

Note from the campus:

      • New employees and current employees who haven’t logged into myMSUM yet can find it under “Services & Resources” on the default myMSUM links.

Login Troubleshooting Note from the Campus

      • : If the error message “Exception in Shibboleth Connector: Error validating SAML message” appears when trying to log into the Follett Discover Adopt account, the issue is related to the single sign on authorization cookie stored in the web browser’s history.

        • To resolve

          • Open a new web browser window (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome) to start a new login session
        • Go into the current web browser’s setting to clear the browsing and cookie cache history

Once logged into your account, all assigned courses will be displayed on the course dashboard screen. To submit course materials, you can either click into the course to add the materials or use the global search bar in the top right corner to find materials you would like to use in a specific class. Or if the class will be using materials created by yourself, free online resources, or no materials at all; just select the corresponding ‘No Materials Needed’ or ‘Use OER Materials’ buttons to import this information into our textbook system. Once this information is imported into our Follett textbook system, it will be uploaded onto the corresponding campus/bookstore websites.

Attached is a copy of the Follett Discover Adopt User Guide to help you navigate the system.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Helen Hansen the course material market manager at: 2347txt@follett.com.
