Professor of Percussion Kenyon Williams to perform Veterans Tribute on Memorial Day
In honor of our veterans and their families, Dr. Kenyon Williams, Professor of Percussion at Minnesota State University Moorhead, will perform David McBride’s powerful work for solo percussionist, “Staying the Course,” at 10am on Veterans Memorial Bridge (on Main Street in Fargo) on Memorial Day.
Often described as “the sonic equivalent of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall” in Washington, D.C., the total number of notes played in this composition equals the number of servicemen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Iraqi Freedom: (Mar. 19, 2003-Aug. 31, 2010):
