Theatre alum Jerry verDorn dies
Alumnus Gerald “Jerry” M. verDorn, best known for his roles as Ross Marler on the “Guiding Light” and Clint Buchanan on “One Life to Live,” has died after a months-long cancer illness.
verDorn graduated with a degree in theatre arts from MSUM in 1976. He appeared in many university theatre productions, including the renowned Straw Hat Players for eight seasons, 1969 through 1976. After graduating, he returned for several summer troupe seasons as well. His last campus visit was in 2008 for the memorial celebration of Delmar “Doc” Hansen, for whom the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre is named. It was also the same year Straw Hat Players celebrated its 45th anniversary.
