MSUM Sweat Lodge closes
The Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) Sweat Lodge, which was located on the strip of grass south of the Paseka School of Business, was taken down on Friday, May 22, 2020. This was due to reasons associated with the maintenance and safety of the lodge as well as the COVID-19 situation.
The decision to take down the lodge was made in consultation with campus staff and several community members. The lodge was taken down by the community members who constructed the lodge and the removal was facilitated following cultural practices.
A plan will be put into place by the MSUM Indian Education Advisory Council that will address the aforementioned concerns. It is at this time, we will begin to rebuild the lodge for students, staff, and faculty.
