Bachmeier selected by Red Rock Canyon for artist-in-residency

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies in Nevada’s Mojave Desert. It’s known for geological features such as towering red sandstone peaks and the Keystone Thrust Fault, as well as Native American petroglyphs. Brad Bachmeier, a ceramic artist, will spend his time researching the unique cultural and geologic history of the conservation area while making work to tell the story of the Park. Bachmeier’s application was the Park’s top choice from a national pool. The work created during the residency will be included in the artists national ceramic traveling exhibit “Conservation Through Clay.” As part of the residency, Bachmeier will give a free public program including demonstrations and a hands-on-clay workshop.
