#FMgram: Artist hits the road, camera and camper in tow

FARGO – Warm weather is calling people to hit the open road, and Grace Clark is answering that call.

The photographer and recent Minnesota State University Moorhead graduate leaves town this week to explore the country.

Unlike other road warriors, Clark won’t be living out of hotels, tents or even her car. For about 15 months, she’s been building her own teardrop camper.

“We didn’t use any plans, just bought a trailer and made it up as we went,” she said last week. “It’s been worked on everywhere from houses we’ve house-sat, friends’ parents’ houses, my parents’ house, my living room and MSUM. I am just now wrapping up the building process, although it could really be worked on forever.”

Clark is hoping her travels allow her to work on her photographic portfolio and she’ll share updates through the Instagram account for the project, @campercraft, and her website, www.thisiscampercraft.com.

You can get a preview of Clark’s style at The Rourke Art Museum, Moorhead, where her show, “Cultural Landscapes,” is on display through Sunday, April 3.
