Self Defense for MSUM Women

All MSUM women are invited to participate in a small group and structured self-defense program. Please consider participating in this great opportunity.

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) is a nationally recognized self-defense program that teaches women to  recognize, avoid and defend themselves from being physically attacked. RAD is a combination of simple, effective physical techniques specifically designed for females along with mentaland emotional awareness and preparation.

Further information can be found by visiting RAD’s official website:  http://www.rad-systems.com/

MSUM Security held its first RAD class in October of 2008 and the feedback was very positive. We hope to offer this class twice a semester.  The MSUM Security Department is paying all of the related costs of this program as our commitment to the university community. This program is open only to our female faculty, staff, and students. You do not have to bring any special skills or ability to the training. We only require that you bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to defending yourself.

Our tentative class schedule is as follows (please note, due to the progressive nature of the training, it is important that you make every possible effort to be at all 5 class sessions). All sessions are from 7 to 10 p.m.

Monday, June 1

Monday, June 8

Monday, June 15

Monday, June 22

Monday, June 29

The training will be conveniently and privately held on the MSUM campus.  We currently have openings for 14 participants. Please email me,  baetsch@mnstate.edu, to confirm you attendance or if you have any questions or fears before committing to the program. Thank You.
