D2L 10.1 Upgrade Scheduled for May 31
Desire2Learn (D2L) will be upgraded to version 10.1 beginning at 10 p.m. CST on Friday, May 31. We expect the upgrade to be complete by 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. Please plan your D2L activities and summer assignment due dates accordingly.
What does the Version 10.1 upgrade mean to you?
You will find that the upgrade centers mostly on how you add and view materials on the Content page. Gone are the two view pages (Manage Content and View Content). You will now use a single Content page, with a left pane for navigation and a right pane for managing and viewing content.
New features for adding and organizing content include:
– Drag and drop files from your computer desktop (for web browsers that support this feature)
– Drag and drop to re-order modules and topics
– Course Overview area to add your course intro, syllabus, etc.
– Description field for adding introductory text for your modules, topics, and activities
– Ability to save your modules and topics in Draft or Published status
– View Word (and most other documents) within the Content pane instead of downloading or opening in Word
Another major change is to the User Progress feature on Classlist. D2L has streamlined User Progress to make it easier to view a student’s progress for all activities (e.g., Dropbox, Quizzes, content review, system login) on a single window.
Atomic Learning offers free videos that will help you learn about the new features in D2L 10.1.
Go to Desire2Learn 10.1 – Instructor Training and start with Getting Started – “Introducing what’s new to version 10.1.” Course Link: http://www.atomiclearning.com/d2l_101
Note: If you receive a pop-up window on the Atomic Learning page requesting your username and password, simply close or ignore the pop-up window. Please note that the navigation bar in the training videos is different from what is used at MSUM and the other MnSCU campuses.
ITS will release more information as we near the scheduled upgrade. Please check Dragon Digest or News on your D2L “My Home” page for updates.
