Paralegal alum, Rachel Nelson, named Special Olympics North Dakota Area Director
Rachel Nelson has been chosen as an Area Director for Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) to serve Fargo and the surrounding area. Nelson is employed as a paralegal at Nilles Law Firm in Fargo. As the Area Director she will be involved in the recruitment and training of volunteers and athletes, organizing area competitions, promoting the program throughout the area, and program fundraising.
Nelson graduated with honors from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal in May 2011 and is employed at Nilles Law Firm in Fargo working in the areas of Estate Planning, Commercial Law, Real Estate Law, and Family Law. Her involvement with Special Olympics began in 2009 when she became a volunteer coach for basketball and track and field and as a partner for volleyball and team handball.
In 2011, Nelson became the head volunteer coach for track and field. She is also involved in the Red River Valley Paralegal Association as the Vice President, enjoys being outdoors bike riding, rollerblading, camping and participating in Fargo Park District volleyball, basketball, and softball programs. She also enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends
Special Olympics North Dakota is a non-profit organization that provides year-round physical fitness, sports training, recreation, and competition in 15 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All activities are provided free of cost to the participants. More than 1,400 athletes are served in North Dakota.
