Volunteer at the MSUM Fargo Marathon Expo Booth

MSUM has been given an Expo Booth to promote MSUM to a huge audience for the Fargo Marathon. There are often long lines of people waiting to spin the MSUM prize wheel and gives us the opportunity to interact with those in line. Last year we had great interactions with Alumni, Current students,  future students and general public that loved seeing MSUM promoting.

Volunteers needed for on-campus event for local high school students

MSUM is hosting a new event for high school students called “College Connections Careers” on Thursday, March 30. This event is an opportunity for local high school students to interact with local professionals and employers to learn about the connection between college and careers.

To make this event an success we need volunteers for a few things: transferring high school students from session to session around campus (about a 20 minute task between sessions) and then college students to chat with the high school students during lunch (you would get lunch as well). The Early Childhood Initiative in Moorhead is teaming up with the Moorhead Center Mall to celebrate KidFest during Week of the Young Child!

Community Service Opportunity

Moorhead Schools is starting an after school soccer training program for elementary school kids at Ellen Hopkins and Robert Asp elementary schools in Moorhead. The program runs Monday-Thursday from 2:45-4 p.m. Sept. 19 – Oct. 13. We are looking for volunteers on any of those days.

You don’t need to be good at soccer to volunteer.

MSUM Supports United Way of Cass-Clay School Supply Drive

Minnesota State University Moorhead is proud to join many Fargo-Moorhead organizations in the support of the 18th Annual School Supply Drive, sponsored by the United Way of Cass-Clay.

The School Supply Drive is an annual project that creates lasting change in the community by providing new a new backpack and a basic set of school supplies to children in Cass and Clay counties.  Last year, 5,260 local students grades K-12 were equipped with a backpacks and set of school supplies. More than 500 volunteers donated a tremendous amount of supplies and time to help students in the community be confident and prepared for school.

Watch the 2016 Fargo Marathon at MSUM

Join us at MSUM on May 21 to cheer for your 2016 Fargo Marathon runners! With plenty of parking and lots of room to set up your cheering section, there’s no better place to watch the race. See your runners pass twice as they loop through campus, and listen to live music from local bands while you wait. Grab a chair and some friends, and come on over to MSUM: the best place to watch the race.

We will also need volunteers to help hand out water to the runners, help with set-up and clean-up, and various other tasks that morning. Use this Sign-Up Genius to indicate that you can volunteer and we will communicate more information to you as we get closer to the marathon.

Minnesota ranks #4 in the nation for volunteering. Volunteers also tend to be happier and healthier people. It is a way to give back to others and make a difference in our community. Volunteering can help develop job skills, plus it looks great on a resume.
