Undergraduate Economics Research is published in Issues in Political Economy
In the latest Issues in Political Economy publication (Volume 35 Issue 1 – https://www.elon.edu/u/academics/business/ipe/about-the-journal/journal-issues/volume-35/), Demi-Lee Carlisle’s research is featured with six other undergraduate research papers written by students from elite universities in the U.S. and Japan.
Carlisle’s econometric analysis, “The Cost of Loadshedding on the South African Economy,” provides an estimate of monetary losses to the South African economy from the energy management strategy of rolling blackouts. Carlisle’s research was conducted under the mentorship of Economics faculty members, Drs. Oscar Flores and T. J. Hansen. Carlisle is the twelfth Minnesota State Moorhead Economics student since 2011 whose undergraduate research has been selected for publication.
At Minnesota State Moorhead, Carlisle majored in Economics and Business Analytics (2025) within the College of Business, Analytics & Communication. Carlisle next earned a Master of Arts in Economics at Miami University, Ohio. She will apply her analytical research skills as a Research Analyst at Fitch Solutions in South Africa.
