Stories, Schools, and Systems: Dragons Experience Education Across Scotland and England
Minnesota State Moorhead teacher candidates led by Dr. David Wolff, recently participated in an immersive, cross-cultural study abroad experience in Scotland and England, that integrated literary study, cultural engagement, and comparative education to prepare globally minded, culturally responsive educators. Through school visits and collaboration with local educators at Gracemount Primary School in Edinburgh and Alec Reed Academy in Northolt, London, students gained firsthand insight into Scottish and English education systems. As part of the experience, students completed individualized research projects, engaging in comparative inquiry across Scottish, English, and U.S. education systems, deepening their understanding of how culture, curriculum, and pedagogy intersect in diverse educational contexts.
