Resources for Regular and Substantive Interaction

As you begin planning for your Fall courses, we want to highlight several resources that support Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI), particularly in online learning environments. MSUM Online Learning and the system office’s Network for Educational Development (NED) both offer a wide range of materials to assist with course design and instructional practices.

Over the next few weeks, we will share selected resources that may be helpful as you prepare your classes.

Today’s featured resource comes from MSUM Online Learning and focuses on Designing Discussions for online, asynchronous courses. The guide includes strategies for creating meaningful, engaging discussion prompts as well as practical tips for facilitating discussions effectively. It also emphasizes the importance of regular and active faculty participation, which is a key component of robust online interaction.
