Caution: Increased phishing attacks
Campus Colleagues and Students,
I want to take a moment to call attention to an important topic, Cybersecurity. With so much happening across campus, distractions are inevitable, and unfortunately, that’s when bad actors in the cybersecurity world are finding it is advantageous to strike.
Recently, our MNSCU system has noticed a concerning uptick in email phishing attacks, as well as an increase in people clicking on those suspicious links. These attacks are becoming more sophisticated, so it’s more important than ever to stay alert and be cautious.
Whenever you receive an email, please take a moment to pause before clicking any links. Double check the sender’s email address, keep an eye out for unusual grammar or spelling errors, and ask yourself if it makes sense for this message to arrive in your work or school inbox. A little extra scrutiny can go a long way in keeping our campus protected.
Thank you all for helping to keep our community safe.
