Network Repairs over Spring Break
Dragon Community,
Our network issues have persisted over the past several weeks without easy resolution from either the campus or system office. To mitigate the issues, we have purchased new equipment and custom-built a second one within the MSUM IT department. We are prepared to install the new solutions over Spring Break, March 9-13.
Working on the network lines will require downtime for our systems. Sam and his team are prepared to do as much of the work as possible during off-business hours. If all goes according to plan, the campus community should feel very little impact during the workweek. That said, we rarely see an implementation and replacement on this scale go without some necessary adjustments to the process. We’re sharing this so you can help monitor for issues and be ready to shift to alternate tasks or locations if needed. Please work with your division leadership.
The first wave of work will begin on Saturday, March 7th, and will continue intermittently through Sunday, March 15th, focusing our efforts on evening or overnight downtime to minimize campus disruption.
There is an important step you can take to support a smooth process. Please shut down your computers at the end of each day, Friday, March 6th through Friday, March 13th. This guarantees that when you return and power back up, your computer will receive the most current configurations.
Reach out if you have any questions or concerns, and I will be happy to respond or connect you with another IT person.
