Freeman-ASIA Scholarship Applications Open for 2026-2027 Programs
The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) program provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures.
Grant amounts are:
- Summer Award: up to $3,000
- Semester/Quarter Award: up to $5,000
- Academic/Calendar Year Award: up to $7,000
Applications are open for the following terms:
- Summer 2026
- Fall 2026
- Academic/Calendar Year 2026-2027
- Spring 2027
Deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:59pm Central Time
Please note that applications and study abroad adviser certifications must be submitted by deadline. Late or uncertified applications will not be considered.
