MSUM Alum and Faculty Member co-author a new book chapter
Dr. Sumali Pandey, Associate Professor in Biosciences, CSHE, and MSUM Alum, Jacob Tesch are celebrating a new scholarly contribution. Together, and in collaboration with Dr. S. Venkatachalem, they co-authored a book chapter in the recently released volume of Inflammation by Springer.
Their chapter, “Inflammatory Mediators in the Airway: A Structural Cell’s Perspective,” explores the functions of structural cells in the lung, the inflammatory mediators they generate, and the ways these insights may inform asthma management.
Throughout his undergraduate years, Jacob Tesch, worked in Dr. Pandey’s research lab, where he gained hands-on experience in pulmonary mycobiome and mouse immunology-based projects. He presented his research at several regional and national conferences, and co-authored a research manuscript with Dr. Pandey. These skills played a central role in shaping his academic trajectory and directly contributed to his acceptance into Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate program at North Dakota State University. This chapter signifies a meaningful milestone in their academic journey, which began with a spark of curiosity in Dr. Pandey’s lab at MSUM.
