Increased phishing activity awareness

The Minnesota State System Office has noted an increase in phishing attacks using stolen StarID accounts (so they come from email addresses within the Minnesota State system). The emails are being sent to primarily students telling them they need to “verify” their account to prevent it from being terminated. They are sent to a Google form which asks for passwords for their current account, any past college accounts, and even their high school account.  The System has had a significant number of compromised accounts resulting from these attacks.

Please know you will NEVER be asked via email to “confirm” or “verify” your account, and should NEVER enter a password on a Google form.
