Master of Healthcare Administration Earns CAHME Reaccreditation
The Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) Board of Directors approved the reaccreditation of Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program for seven years, the maximum period allowed.
“This reaccreditation represents the stellar commitment and extensive leadership of our Minnesota State University Moorhead graduate faculty to prepare graduates to be highly qualified healthcare management professionals,” said Dr. Arrick Jackson, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. “Faculty are not only highly invested in student success but are also highly credentialed with extensive professional healthcare experience.”
MSU Moorhead offers the only CAHME-accredited program in North and South Dakota, and the only other accredited program in Minnesota is at the University of Minnesota.
CAHME accreditation is the gold standard in healthcare management education, ensuring a rigorous, industry-aligned curriculum that transforms students into future healthcare leaders. It provides students with a competitive edge through a forward-looking curriculum that aligns with industry demands and rigorously prepares future healthcare leaders, ensuring a contemporary, high-quality talent pipeline for organizations to achieve their goals.
“I am incredibly proud of our program and healthcare administration faculty on this important milestone,” said Dr. Brandi Sillerud, MHA Program Coordinator, School of Nursing & Healthcare Leadership. “We are committed to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals that will innovate and lead healthcare into the future.”
MSUM’s MHA program is uniquely student-centered, allowing students to progress on their own timeline and crafting individualized academic paths that align with student goals. The program offers a long-term care emphasis and a dual Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Healthcare Administration.
Lieutenant Maiah McCowan is an active-duty Air Force service member working on a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at MSUM. “All my professors have been great working with me on active duty. They allow me to cater my assignments to fit my schedule,” she said.
“The investment in CAHME accreditation ensures we are committed to providing our students the highest level of quality programming and instruction. We are committed to delivering a contemporary curriculum aligned with the needs of our community partners and stakeholders,” Sillerud said.
The MHA program has maintained stable growth over the last five years following its initial CAHME accreditation in 2021. The healthcare sector remains a stable and attractive job market.
“CAHME’s mission is to advance the quality of healthcare management education globally. CAHME-accredited programs have successfully navigated a complex and careful accreditation process managed by experts in the study and practice of healthcare management,” said Dr. Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE, president and CEO of CAHME. “The program meets rigorous standards set by leading academics and practitioners. We recognize their commitment to the field.”
