Brad Bachmeier’s art students saw work being done on public art sculpture, coming soon to campus
Last week, a group of MSUM students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the newest public art sculpture coming to campus! 🎨🔥
Designed by artist Brock Davis and brought to life at Davis Designs, this large-scale metal sculpture will soon be installed on the west side of the newly completed Christianson Alumni Center. Students toured the fabrication studio, explored how the piece evolved from sketches to 3D models to full-scale construction, and learned about the complex problem-solving involved, from hidden mounting points to internal plumbing for a flame feature.
Huge thanks to professor Brad Bachmeier, Chair of MSUM’s School of Art, for making this experience possible! 🙌
As Brad put it: “The final result will be well worth the wait, providing an incredible new iconic focal point for the Alumni Center and campus to be proud of.”
Stay tuned for more updates as we count down to the spring installation, including the final name reveal of this bold new MSUM landmark! 🐉🔥
