Join the Library’s Banned Books Reading Group for “Sold”

Library staff across the country are facing an overwhelming number of book ban attempts. In 2023 alone, 4,240 unique book titles were targeted, including 23 from North Dakota and 45 from Minnesota. The freedom to explore new ideas and uplift the voices of those who are often silenced is under threat, and we must stand together in the fight against censorship.

In celebration of Women’s History Month and in recognition of International Women’s Day, the library is hosting a Banned Books Reading Group discussion on Monday, March 17, from 12 to 1 PM in the Library Porch (LI 100).

We invite you to celebrate your freedom to read by joining our group with fellow MSUM faculty, staff, and students. Bring your lunch and we’ll discuss Sold by Patricia McCormick. This discussion will be led by Erienne Fawcett, Coordinator of Gender and Sexuality.
