Giving made easier with the new Dragon Fire Annual Fund

What was once the Dragon Fire Booster Club will transition into the Dragon Fire Annual Fund, which launched to all fans today with a goal of raising $300,000 in the 2024-2025 academic fiscal year.

“Dragon Fire has always been a group of people dedicated to the success of our Dragons,” said associate athletics director Jon Wepking.  “Because of changes in our department staffing, technology advancements, and fan feedback…it is time to simplify and clarify our offerings to better meet the needs of our Dragon fans and balance what we’re capable of delivering.”

DRAGON FIRE ANNUAL FUND FEATURES:

  • Charitable donation platform through the MSUM Foundation
  • Simple to use dedicated site open year round to donate to any team
  • Funds will be totaled from all gifts into an annual amount…showcasing the overall support of Dragon Athletics
  • Subscription giving will be available for monthly donations
  • Ambassadors can share their own links from the site encouraging others to give or create a matching gifts

Part of these changes came in August when season tickets and courtside seats were made accessible to all fans without having to first join the booster club.  This change also decreased the overall cost of getting season tickets, making them more affordable (see pricing below).

“Before, fans would have to give a charitable gift in order to get access to purchase season tickets,” said Wepking.  “Now those who want to give can give and those who want to get tickets can get tickets.”

“We wanted to keep the Dragon Fire name to honor those who have invested their time, talents, and treasures to helping us get better,” said athletics director Chad Markuson.  “I’m also excited to have the support of our MSUM Foundation to bring Donn Groth into the mix as our Director of Development for Athletics.  He’s ready to connect with our fans and donors, host reunions and special events, and help grow Dragon Athletics.  When I step back and look at the momentum we’ve got building and the possibilities in the near future…I truly believe right now is a great time to be a part the Dragons.”

Donn Groth can be reached at donn.groth@mnstate.edu or 218.477.4356.
