MSUM, Concordia College, & NDSU collaborate to host BrainSTEM event for Area Middle School
MSUM, Concordia College, and NDSU partnered with the North Dakota chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to host the 7th annual BrainSTEM event on Wednesday, October 23. This exciting event welcomed nearly 270 seventh-grade students from Ben Franklin Middle School for a day of hands-on learning at Concordia aimed at promoting diversity in STEM fields. The event placed a special emphasis by featuring workshop leaders from underrepresented groups in STEM, providing students with diverse role models in the field.
Students had the opportunity to explore up to 20 interactive sessions, hosted by universities, businesses, and organizations in the field, all focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These workshops were designed to spark curiosity, inspire innovation, and highlight the importance of diversity in STEM. The day concluded with an engaging keynote presentation by NASA Special Agent David Daniels-Watanabe, who shared his journey and experiences, further motivating the students to pursue STEM-related fields.
