Mother, leader, and entrepreneur are all words to describe Jenessa Fillipi. The former dragon turned National Mother of the Year® recently sat down and spoke about how she earned her titles and created her nonprofit Down Home in Fargo, ND.

“Down Home empowers lives and stabilizes those emerging from homelessness by furnishing homes, strengthening connections, and transforming communities.”

Jenessa says once you enter the Down-Home family you fortunately never leave. That is how she felt during her undergraduate and graduate degrees at MSUM.

Eventually, she gained her Master of Science (MS) in Counseling and went into the world of education. After seeing the disparities in the community Janessa decided to be the change.
