Five School of Art Students present at Women and Gender Studies Conference at the University of North Dakota
School of Art students Liv Palme, Aubrey Pfennig, Annabelle Matthews, Michaela Knutson and Trent Regner will present their research at the University of North Dakota on April 20th as part of the “Feminist Visions of the Future” conference. The students are members of a seminar titled Professional Curatorial Practice for which they are preparing an exhibition of Women Artists based on the collection of three regional collections: The Plains Art Museum, The Rourke Museum and Gallery, and the North Dakota Museum of Art. The students conducted hands-on and archival research in these museums as well as from peer-reviewed sources to write and produce an exhibition catalog which will be issued at the end of the semester. For the conference, they will reflect on the historiography of curating exhibitions of women’s art as well as making statements about the implications and future directions of curatorial practice.
