Pilot Teacher Cadet Program is a success

Moorhead High School students were on campus last week as part of the Teacher Cadet Program. The primary goal of the Teacher Cadet Program is to encourage academically talented, high-achieving, high school students with exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills to consider teaching as a career. This partnership with Moorhead High is a collaborative effort to grow our own teachers for this region.
Students took the Introduction to Education concurrent enrollment course this year and participated in various hands-on experiences and practicums. Their final visit to MSUM included a campus tour, lunch, a Q&A panel with current education students, and attending an education class.
Seven high school seniors are in this class and six of them are attending MSUM in the Fall. Twenty-four students have signed up for next year’s Teacher Cadet Class! Thanks to Dean Lee and the faculty leaders Julia Poplin and Keri DeSutter.
