Join MSUM at the Breaking the Ice Summit
We are looking for interested MSUM employees and students that want to join our MSUM booth at the Breaking the Ice Summit. Below is a description of the event and what to look for. If you are interested, please use the signup genius link to sign up for one of the shifts! This is a great way to engage with the community! We will have an Admission representative at the booth as well.
Breaking the Ice is a platform for inclusive and equitable dialogue with the many cultures of the Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo region. Focusing on cultural wellness and social health factors within the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and New American, Foreign Born and Immigrant (NFI) communities. Various exhibitors will be present, offering valuable information and resources for attendees to take with them.
The event is designed to tackle the five Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), the Breaking the Ice Summit will focus on:

Healthcare Access and Quality,
Education Access and Quality,
Social and Community Contexts,
Economic Stability, and
Neighborhood and Environment.
SDOH are the conditions that impact a person’s health and quality of life. Not knowing how to navigate the SDOH can cause health disparities and inequities. Breaking the Ice offers resources and opportunities to address each SDOH.
The Breaking the Ice Summit is more than just a gathering; it’s a catalyst for change. People from all cultures can come together to access vital information that can improve their well-being. It symbolizes inclusivity and equity and embodies unity and opportunity, aiming to leave a lasting impact on individuals and communities across the region.
