Faculty and Students attend the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference
Math faculty Megan Jensen, Tammie Schmiess, and Tim Harms attended the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference in Duluth April 21-22, 2023. Professor Harms presented a session “Math Modeling in new MN Standards” describing the development of the 2022 MN Math Standards emphasizing the Mathematical Practices and modeling elements significant for secondary math teachers.
Elementary Inclusive Education majors Michael Baker, Courtney Koebernick, Renee Herrmann and Megan Steinkuehler also attended this conference. This fall they will be sharing what they are planning to use from this conference during their student teaching placements next semester.
MSUM graduates Sarah Harms, Jena Infanger and Ashley Skalsky were on a Teacher Panel sharing their first through fourth years of teaching mathematics. As part of their session, they discussed their successes and challenges as new teachers and addressed questions that displayed the professionals they have become.
