Ballard Hall to close to students May 12

Ballard Hall, named after Caswell Ballard, was originally constructed in 1949 and has been home to many students throughout the past 75 years. The difficult decision has been made to close Ballard Hall to residents on May 12, 2023, at the end of the spring semester. Students who have selected a Ballard Hall room for next year will be contacted to change to a similar room in another residence hall.

The recently completed campus Comprehensive Facilities Plan (CFP) identified the need to close Ballard Hall, the oldest residence hall on campus, so the funds necessary for updating it can be used for maintaining and improving other residence halls. The Housing and Residential Life Office will remain in Ballard Hall and will eventually relocate.
