Ojibwe professor Anton Treuer to speak at MSUM Oct. 25 & 26
Anton Treuer, a professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University, will deliver two talks at MSU Moorhead as the College of Education and Human Services visiting scholar.
His first presentation, titled “Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask,” will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Weld Hall Glasrud Auditorium. The event will be an interactive exploration of Indigenous culture, history and current events. It will also be available via Zoom at https://minnstate.zoom.us/j/96805589615.
His second presentation, titled “Gates & Gaps: Addressing Racial Disparities in America,” will be Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Comstock Memorial Union Ballroom. The presentation provides a deep exploration of what drives disparity in America and what can be done about it.
Treuer is the author of many books, including “Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask” and “The Assassination Of Hole In The Day.” His equity, education, and cultural work have put him on a path of service worldwide as a celebrated racial equity educator.
