Full day of Physics and Astronomy Saturday, April 9
There are several Physics and Astronomy-related events this Saturday, April 9, open to the community:
Society of Physics Students (SPS) Demo Show, 1PM in LH118: Join us for several demonstrations of physics principles relevant to the new James Webb Space Telescope. Our first in-person demo show since 2019 will include many new demos and hands-on activities. Solar viewing, 6-7PM, outside north end of Bridges Hall: As part of the Minnesota Statewide Star Party, the student Astronomy Club and the Fargo-Moorhead Astronomy Club will have several solar telescopes set up to safely view the Sun, weather permitting. Free planetarium show, 7-8PM, Planetarium in Bridges Hall: The MSUM Planetarium is offering a free show as part of the Statewide Star Party. The show will include an overview of what is visible in the night sky over the next couple of months.
Lunar viewing, 8-9PM , outside north end of Bridges Hall: As part of the Minnesota Statewide Star Party, the student Astronomy Club and the Fargo-Moorhead Astronomy Club will have several telescopes set up to view the Moon, weather permitting.
Hands-on activities for children, 6-9PM, BR 164 and hallway: Throughout the solar and lunar viewing and planetarium show there will be hands-on space activities for kids.
