Voting information
With the election fast approaching, it is important that faculty and staff encourage students to vote. The information below provides basic information on voting by mail or in person in Minnesota and North Dakota. The Center for Engaged Learning invites you to share this information on your course D2L pages or email to students. We thank student Jess Muller for putting this information together.
Voting basics:
College students should be aware that they must vote in person or request an absentee ballot for wherever they register to vote.
MN residents must register online by October 13th and submit a mail-in ballot that is postmarked by November 3rd, though it is recommended they request a ballot and return it several weeks in advance. To do so visit mnvotes.org (or https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/) If voting in person and not yet registered, bring an ID and proof of residence.
ND residents do not need to register. Residents can request their mail-in ballot at vote.nd.gov (or https://vip.sos.nd.gov/PortalList.aspx). Ballots must be postmarked by November 2nd. If voting in person, be sure to bring a photo ID and proof of residence.
