Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Brodigan Morton
Meet MSUM’s new Campus Security Officer at Public Safety, Brodigan Morton. He is excited to take his past experiences and familiarity with MSUM and apply it to his work now!
Start Date: October 10, 2019
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I started working at Public Safety as a freshman at MSUM and graduated with a theater degree. MSUM was the first college I toured, and as soon as I did, I fell in love with it. I felt very welcomed, very at home and knew that as soon as I met some of the faculty, that is where I would stay.
Q: What unique experience or skill from your past job do you bring to MSUM?
A: Aside from previously working in Public Safety, I did not have any law enforcement or security background. I like interacting with people, and the theater background allows me to be improvisational and spontaneous. I can strike up a conversation with just about anybody, and I think that allows a pretty unique perspective.
Q: What’s your go-to productivity trick?
A: I listen to music. Specifically, movie or video soundtracks. That’s how I got through finals and homework—by putting on lyrical music.
Q: What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
A: If I have a lot of things going on or a task isn’t going right, there are enough things that I’m working on where I’m able to put that aside and dive into something else. There’s always something that I can be doing to feel productive.
Q: What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
A: At the end of the day, something that may seem like the biggest mountain in the world turns out to be this tiny little thing that you have no control over. It’s okay to let things go and move forward if you have to.
Glad to have you as a part of the #DragonFamily, Brodigan!
