3rd annual MSUM Lab Crawl

Mark your dates for the 3rd annual MSUM Lab Crawl. The Lab Crawl is scheduled to take place Wednesday April 15th to Tuesday April 21, 2020.

The Lab Crawl is an opportunity to showcase research labs, creative endeavors, and undergraduate research opportunities.

I encourage you to consider opening your lab or creative space for a few hours to lab crawl visitors this year. In addition, please consider putting the 2020 Lab Crawl as an extra credit or a regular assignment, on your syllabi for spring semester. Encouraging students to tour lab and creative spaces give students an incentive to learn about these out of the classroom opportunities and availing themselves to them.

To make it as easy as possible for faculty to encourage students to attend the Lab Crawl, the Center for Engaged Learning will have the following resources available to faculty upon request (please email me) at sarah.edwards@mnstate.edu.
• A power point slide announcing the lab crawl
• A statement you can add to your syllabus, announce in class, or post on D2L
• A lab crawl booklet you can post on your D2L site or hand out to students in class if you wish
• We can keep track of students visiting labs via sign in sheets and will provide you with a spreadsheet of students and how many labs they visited for you to easily award points or extra credit if you like

I am excited about our 2020 lab crawl and hope you will consider opening your labs and/or adding it as a learning opportunity for your students.
