Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Jenna Radtke
Meet MSUM’s new Student Success Advisor at the Academic Support Center, Jenna Radtke. She is excited to take her own experiences and bring them to MSUM!
Start date: August 26, 2019
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: Being close to home and in the Fargo-Moorhead area is something that I liked. I did my undergraduate degree at NDSU, and being a part of the Tri-College system is something I’m excited about.
Q: What’s one thing that has surprised you about MSUM?
A: The amount of connectedness at this institution. Everyone keeps talking about how small MSUM is compared to NDSU. From my experience at NDSU and coming to MSUM, it doesn’t feel that small because everyone feels like they’re very connected and can do what they want to do. It makes everything feel like we’re at a big institution. It has that large institution feel, but it’s a smaller school.
Q: What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
A: I like to think of the positives and not dwell on the negative. Things might have been bad, but I think about what’s going to be better, and how can I move forward from this?
Q: What is your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead?
A: I’m known for liking ice cream, a lot. I love all the ice cream places around, like Silver Linings Creamery and Scoop N Dough.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received, and who was it from?
A: One of the best pieces of advice was about creating a resume. One of my old colleagues from NDSU told me, “when making a resume, put a table in and then make it invisible. It’s nice and organized for you, but you can make it invisible so other people don’t see it. It was a lifesaver when I was applying for jobs and creating resumes. I just finished grad school, and it was nice to do that when I was job searching not too long ago.
Welcome to the #DragonFamily, Jenna. We’re happy you’re here!
