Commonly asked questions about presenting at the STAR Symposium
1. Do I have to travel to present?
No, that’s the really great part about this conference. All presenters and participants are joining
from wherever they are. As long as you have a computer that allows you to connect to a virtual
meeting room using a web camera and microphone you’re set.
2. I’ve never presented in a web-based format.
What support is provided to me?
All presenters are expected to participate in a virtual 1:1 “test drive” using the virtual meeting
platform prior to the conference. During that time, we provide training in best practices for
virtual presentations as well as allow you time to become familiar with the meeting platform.
These sessions are scheduled in the weeks leading up to the conference. We work with you to
find a time that fits your schedule.
3. I’d like to co-present with a colleague from another institution in another location.
Would that work?
Yes, we’re pretty flexible and creative in making things work for our presenters. Last year we
had a panel of presenters each of whom was in a different state! Contact us with your idea and
we’ll let you know if we can make it work.
