#MeToo: A Transnational Movement
Wednesday, Sept. 18 | 3-4:30 p.m. | CMU 105
Hear international author, organizer, and survivor advocate speak about the impact of the #MeToo Movement globally. Join us in CMU 105.
Sohaila Abdulali was born in Mumbai and has worked as a journalist in Philadelphia, Boston and India. She coordinated the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center for two years and has worked for the United Nations, Oxfam, and the World Health Organization, speaking around the world on issues such as poverty, the environment, and women’s rights. Sohaila is the author of “What We Talk About When We Talk About Rape,” named one of Publisher Weekly’s “Best Books of 2018.”
Following her talk about #MeToo, Sohaila will join the MSUM community for Take Back the Night on the Campus Mall from 5-9 p.m. She will speak again at the rally — this time about the importance of intersectionality when we talk about rape.
Both events are free and open to the public. All are welcome.
