Update to recent burglary and thefts on campus
MSUM Public Safety has been working with the Moorhead Police Department to investigate the recent burglary and thefts in academic buildings on campus. As a result of the investigation, the Moorhead Police Department has made an arrest of an adult male. The arrest was made on 08/08/18 and the suspect is currently held in the Clay County Jail pending formal charges. The Moorhead Police Department is requesting charges to include burglary, felony possession of stolen property and trespassing. MSUM Public Safety would like to recognize the efforts of the Moorhead Police Department to help resolve this matter in an efficient manner.
The incidents did not pose a threat to the personal safety of students or staff. MSUM remains a safe campus and incidents like this help remind us to be aware of general safety practices which include making sure offices, work and/or study areas are properly secured, valuable items are secured, keys are maintained in a secure location and any inoperable locks or latches are reported to Public Safety.
