New, online tutoring service available
We are very excited to announce a new online tutoring service now available at MSUM. The Minnesota State System has partnered with Tutor.com to offer a new service for 24/7 online tutoring, which will connect students with an expert tutor for extra assistance one-on-one. Online tutoring services can be accessed from any internet-enabled device through the main page in D2L Brightspace and on individual course pages. This service replaced the existing program known as Smarthinking.
While we will continue to provide in-person tutoring options through the Academic Support Center, this is a great service for those needing assistance 24/7 outside of the hours of the Academic Assistance Program, other tutoring services on campus, or faculty office hours. You can find more information about the tutoring services currently offered in the Academic Support Center and across campus at mnstate.edu/asc.
As you prepare for the fall semester, please be mindful of information you plan to share with students about tutoring resources offered at MSUM. We encourage you to update any references to tutoring or online tutoring in your syllabus, handbooks, or department webpages with Tutor.com information if applicable.
If you have questions about Tutor.com or how to best utilize the resources available to students and faculty, please contact Laura Kiemele at 218-477-2442, or Laura.Kiemele@mnstate.edu.
