MSUM Announces 14th Annual Read Aloud Book Awards 

The MSUM Curriculum Materials Center and the Livingston Lord Library will announce the winners of the 14th annual Comstock-Gág Read Aloud Book Awards Wednesday, May 9 at Bennett Elementary School in Fargo. The award books will be read aloud and book talks will be presented for each honored book.

The Comstock-Gág Read Aloud Book Awards program supports two awards:

Comstock Read Aloud Book Award, an annual award for the best read aloud picture book for older children (ages 9-12). This award is named for the Comstock Family, an important pioneer family in Moorhead, Minn. This award will be presented at 9:20 a.m. in the Bennett Library in front of a participating fifth grade class.

Wanda Gág Read Aloud Book Award is an annual award for the best read aloud picture book for younger children (toddlers to age 8). This award is named for Wanda Gág, a children’s book author and illustrator and artist from New Ulm, Minn. This award will be presented at 10:15 a.m. in the Bennett Library in front of participating first and third grade classes.

Reinertsen Elementary and St. Joseph’s School in Moorhead, and Bennett, Eagles, Jefferson, Kennedy, Lewis & Clark and Washington Elementary schools in Fargo participate in the Comstock-Gág Read Aloud Book Awards program.

The Book Award Project is partially funded by a grant from the Solomon G. Comstock Memorial Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation, Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Wanda Gág Book Award Fund of the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Alumni Foundation.
