Seth Nichols named assistant director of recreation: competitive sports
After a national search led by Steve Fox, Seth Nichols was named the Assistant Director of Recreation: Competitive Sorts. This is a new position created within the Recreation & Wellness Department. Seth will be working with the 14 club sport teams, along with leading intramural leagues and special events. Seth came to MSUM from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, where he was the Wellness Center Coordinator and Director of Intramural Sports. Before Mines, Seth spent two years as the Recreation Coordinator for Williston Parks and Recreation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Recreation, and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Sport Management. Throughout the interview process, Seth displayed creativity and passion for the position, a student-centered approach, and an understanding of the impact recreation and wellness has on student success.
Seth shared his thoughts about taking on this new role. “I am honored to be a part of the MSUM community, and the continued effort to transform lives. In the world of recreation, we are one of the many avenues for bringing people together; which helps cultivate connections and memories that will last a lifetime. I am incredibly excited to bring my attributes to the table, and to continue to serve the campus community for many years to come.”
Seth’s first day was April 9.
