MSUM Economics program alumni, faculty member active in Agricultural and Applied Economics Association 

The Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) held its annual meeting July 30-August 1, 2017 in Chicago, IL. The MSUM Economics program’s tradition of undergraduate research and mentoring was highlighted by four MSUM Economics alumni presenting research as members of their respective graduate institutions:

  • Tanner McCarty, Purdue University, Optimal contracting and the economics of perennial energy crops
  • Vaneesha Dusoruth, University of Minnesota, Food waste, impulsivity and risk: Heterogeneous behavioral responses
  • Nicholas Pates, Kansas State University, An analysis of strategy shifts among Kansas crop farmers
  • Dylan Riley, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Estimating the impact of the USDA Conservation Reserve Program on groundwater levels in the Republican River Basin

Dr. T. J. Hansen participated in the meetings as a member of the association’s Teaching and Learning, Extension, and Community and Regional Economic sections.
