Warning Signs: Recognizing Intimate Partner Abuse
Monday, Oct. 23 | 12:30-1:30 p.m. | Women’s Center (Bridges 154)
For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, join Women’s Center Coordinator Dana Bisignani and learn to recognize the warning signs of power-based personal violence that lead to unhealthy relationships. We’ll learn to spot patterns of verbal abuse, coercion, and other problematic behaviors — many normalized in romantic comedies and other pop culture — before they escalate into emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. We’ll also discuss how to support someone who is experiencing or trying to escape an abusive partner and resources. This talk is inclusive of and open to students of any gender identity and sexual orientation. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch and eat during the event.
