MSUM featured in part-time job study

A new study by The Student Loan Report recognized Minnesota State University Moorhead for its willingness to offer and pay for on-campus part-time job opportunities to its student body.

MSU Moorhead was listed as No. 35 among more than 500 public colleges that offer part-time jobs to students. The report states MSUM offers 246 on-campus part-time jobs, with an average compensation of $2,391. Average compensation refers to the total average pay per job over the 2015-2016 academic year.

“We are fortunate that our MSUM students recognize the importance of a college education and are working on ways to afford it,” said Melissa Dingmann, director of the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid. “A part-time job is not only a great way to help pay for school, but also assist with time management, develop skills and rapport within a job setting, and build up a resume so our students will be ready to hit the work force running once they graduate with their degree.  Many of our MSUM students take advantage of our Federal and State College Work Study programs to find a job while in school.”

This data is not related to the Federal Work-Study program. It covers schools who offer their own part-time jobs to students looking for work during the semester. The final report can be found at https://studentloans.net/best-part-time-work-opportunities/.
