MSUM CARE Team
There may be times when you’re concerned about a student in your class or an advisee, you’re bothered by a roommate acting differently, or you’re unsure about a student’s behavior. If you are concerned about a student’s wellbeing, but you’re unsure of what to do: contact the campus CARE Team. Some specific reasons (but not all of them) include: suicide ideation, depression, substance abuse, disruptive behavior in class, making violent statements, feeling threatened by a student, and concerns for a student’s welfare.
The MSUM CARE Team meets weekly (or more frequently as needed) to discuss referrals, seeking to find ways to respond and support students in need. The team members represent a variety of departments on campus: Brenda Amenson-Hill, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs; Ashley Atteberry, Title IX Coordinator and Student Conduct & Resolution; Denise Gorsline, Dean in Academic Affairs; Joe Hazelton, Housing and Residential Life; Andi Johnson, Hendrix Clinic & Counseling Center; Jessica Jorgensen, Public Safety; James Schumann, Public Safety; Hannah Stoneburner, Learning Communities; Janet Sundquist, Academic Support Center; and Greg Toutges, Accessibility Resources.
More information about referrals and the team are located on the CARE Team web page: mnstate.edu/careteam
